There are a variety of Safety Plans to consider when you are or have been a victim of domestic violence. Safety Plans can be a very important tool for victims to create and use.
Often, deciding to leave puts a victim at greater risk for increased violence. If you are preparing to leave your abuser, creating and going over your safety plan with an advocate will assist you with a safe escape plan.
Call our Family Resource Center office at 540-483-5088 and ask to speak with a domestic violence case manager, or call our hotline at 540-483-1234 and speak with a crisis worker. Both will assist you develop a safety plan, and remember: if you write it down, keep it confidential, keep it in a safe place, and do not inform your batterer of your decision to leave.
